Clients – Hillsides
A Thousand Joys’ Trauma-Informed Care services assisted Hillsides with creating a culture of wellness that supports high quality services to clients by a happy, healthy and trauma-informed staff. Through a combination of experiential training and coaching, staff gained a deeper understanding of how trauma and high stress impact the body, mind, emotions and spirit. They learned practical communication and self-care practices designed to promote physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Stacey Roth, the Chief Program Officer at Hillsides, reported that, “ATJ’s coaching and training have enabled the Hillsides Family Resource Centers management team to be fully present in their interactions with each other and clients, regulate their own central nervous system response to trauma exposure, make better decisions, manage conflict, communicate more effectively and increase control over their own emotions. The Hillsides team understands that radical self-care is necessary to do trauma work and thanks to ATJ, we now have tools we can use in the workplace to help prevent vicarious trauma. Their work with us has proven so effective that we are now expanding their role to other departments so that we can achieve similar outcomes across our organization.”
